The park was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park and later renamed after the famous British hunter and conservationist, Jim Corbett. Sprawled over 520 square kilometres, Corbett is widely known for its tiger richness, especially Bengal Tiger, and has had the honours of being the place where Project Tiger was launched.
The activities of interest that delegates can enjoy include safari and elephant ride. Attractions like Corbett Falls, Corbett Museum, Dhikala zone, Durga Devi zone have enough in them to pleasantly surprise the visitors.
The park enjoys sound connectivity with other parts of the state as well as other major cities of the country by air, rail and road. Patanagar airport is the nearest airport to reach Corbett, about 50 kilometres away. Taxis are available to cover the remaining distance. Ramnagar is the nearest city to Jim Corbett Park, around 15 kilometres away, which is well connected by rail and road with major cities of the country like Nainital, Delhi etc.
