Jaisalmer

How unique is Rajasthan! Almost all of its popular cities have other names also owing to their specific characteristics. Jaisalmer is popularly known as the ‘Golden City’. It is because it houses the most prominent fort of the city known as Jaisalmer Fort which is also known as Sonar Qila (Golden Fort). The interesting fact about the fort is it is, in a way, a city in its own right with shops, hotels and ancient homes still in use. The city has a lot to offer to the delegates after they complete their events. The major tourist attractions include: Jaisalmer Fort, Jaisalmer Government Museum, Nathmal Ji Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli, Gadisar Lake, Desert National Park, Jaisalmer War Museum, Akal Wood Fossil Park, etc.
The Golden City is well-connected by air, rail and road. The nearest airport is Jodhpur airport which is 284 kilometres away. Trains such as Delhi Jaisalmer Express, Jodhpur Jaisalmer Express, etc. operate regularly and connect the city to other major cities. Jaisalmer railway station is about 2 kilometres away from Jaisalmer Fort. Buses and taxis connect Jaisalmer to other parts of Rajasthan. However, if you are travelling from Delhi, you will have to change your bus at Jaipur and board the local one to reach your destination.
